Moshiach
Thoughts 40-45
- The Resurrection of the Dead will occur
after the Redemption, the very last event of the Messianic era,
thus in a way distinct from it. Even so, there are various stages
in the process of resurrection itself, with some individuals rising
before all others. Moses and Aaron, for example, will be present
already in the very early period, when the Holy Temple will be
re-established, in order to guide the order and procedures of
the Temple-service. A number of other righteous individuals, too,
will be revived at various stages prior to the general resurrection
of the dead. (Mashiach, by J. Immanuel Schochet)
- When Moshiach comes, the body will see
Divinity with palpable sense-perception. The physical eye will
see the light and the Divine life-force which are the essence
of every created thing... In our times, the nefesh (soul) is the
mashpia, the fount of spiritual energy, and the body receives
its life-force from it; that is to say, materiality is the recipient
of the benefactions of spirituality. When Moshiach comes, however,
the body will be the benefactor. (Likutei Diburim of the Previous
Rebbe)
- When Moshiach comes everyone will manifestly
see how the life-force that animates the organs of the body stems
from Divinity. It will then be seen that every individual organ
lives from the Divine life-force that is drawn into it by the
fulfillment of the particular mitzva which relates to that organ.
For, as is well-known, the 248 positive commandments correspond
to the 248 bodily organs. (From a Chasidic discourse of Rabbi
Sholom Dovber of Lubavitch)
- You are our G-d; You are our L-rd; You
are our King; You are our Deliverer; You will save us. You will
arise and have mercy on Zion, for it is time to be gracious to
her; the appointed time has come! (From the Ein Kelokeinu prayer)
- May the Merciful One grant us the privilege
of reaching the days of Moshiach and the life of the World to
Come. (From the Birkat Hamazon-Grace After Meals)
